Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage
Approx 55 miles from Colombo, off the Colombo - Kandy road is Pinnawela, where an orphanage was started in 1975 to house the abandoned and the wounded elephants. The number of elephants has increased to more than 65 now; including Baby Elephants brought from various parts, as well as some of the more than 25 babies born, as a result of the captive breeding programme.
The unique feature is that one could feed the baby elephants with bottles of milk during the feeding times. The best time to visit is the feeding time from 0915-0930 hrs, 1315-1330 hrs and 1700 hrs, and the bathing time from 1000-1200hrs and 1400-1600 hrs when all the elephants are taken to the river. Ever since 4th Century A.D, when the Buddha’s Tooth was brought to Sri Lanka hidden from sacrilegious hands in an Orissan princess Hair, the Relic has grown in repute and holiness in Sri Lanka and throughout the Buddhist world. It is considered Sri Lanka's most prized possession.

Royal Botanical Garden, Peradeniya is located close to the city of Kandy in the Central Province of Sri Lanka. It is renowned for its collection of a variety of orchids. It includes more than 300 varieties of orchids, spices, medicinal plants and palm trees. Attached to it is the National Herbarium. The total area of the botanical garden is 147 acres (0.59 km2), at 460 meters above sea level, and with a 200-day annual rainfall. It is managed by the Division of National Botanic Gardens of the Department of Agriculture. Leave for Nuwaraeliya. On the way you may visit a tea factory and a tea plantation.
Nuwaraeliya- The ‘Little England’ of Sri Lanka is set against beautiful backdrops of Mountains, Valleys, Waterfalls and Tea Plantations. It is supposed to be one of the coldest places on the island, where the air is pure, cool and distilled up through 1,884 meters; windswept peaks lie shrouded in mist, while gaily clad tea pluckers wind their way among tea bushes listening to the wild music of the water fall. Kitulgala- Kitulgala is a small town in the west of Sri Lanka. It is in the wet zone rain forest, which gets two monsoons each year, and is one of the wettest places in the country. Nevertheless, it comes alive in the first three months of the year, especially in February, the driest month.
The location famous for adventure sports including mountain biking, tracking, bird watching and the most attractive of all white water rafting. This is also the site where David Lean’s world famous film “Bridge over River Kwai” was filmed.Overnight Stay at the Hotel.
